SABMiller has come up with a number of innovations for the event, two of which are in packaging. This is despite the fact that SABMiller is not an official sponsor of the World Cup, and is not expecting beer demand to be vastly increased during the period.
Its two packaging innovations are:

Production of a limited run of one million aluminium bottles - a
first in packaging in the SA beer market. The bottles will be available
as collector's items in selected bottle stores and bars.

Production of a new easy-opening can with a lid that is completely removable, thus allowing the can to serve as a cup.
